Peoples Park opened in 2007 and hosts over 1,000 species of indigenous plants and trees, covering 4 hectares. One of the main features of the park is the Durian Dome, a visitors center built in the image of Davao's most famous export; the very smelly but delicious Durian fruit. The park includes sculptures by local artist Kublai Millan.
Aldevinco Shopping Center. Before Malls became the norm, there was Aldevinco Shopping Center, open since 1965 and now home to over 100 stalls and shops selling Davao Souvenirs. Jack’s Ridge on Matina Hill was a key area during WWII for the Japanese Army and included the HQ of the retreating forces, with views across the harbour. Caves jug out by the Japanese can still be seen and occasionally bullet shells are still found. There continue to be rumours of gold bullion bars and treasures hidden on the land
